Then we went to the Grand Canyon. It is one of the most magnificent and beautiful natural wonders in the world. The Grand Canyon is called large rock layers by local people. Two landmasses squeezed each other and moved. Then rocks in different periods became sediments layer after layer on the igneous rocks of the volcano. So the layers of rocks were very regular and colorful. Later in the movement of mountain formations, plateaus and canyons formed. The Grand Canyon today was formed after billions of years’ erosion.
My parents and I rode from highway No. 64 to the south of the Grand Canyon. I was shocked by its mystery, silence, magnificence and beauty. It was 1000 meters deep and 18000 meters wide. In the wide visual field, there were walls and pillars of large rocks. In the sunshine, they reflected ember, khaki or bright orange, quiet and stately. There were varieties of shapes of rocks. Some were like a pyramid; some were like piled battercakes; some were like half of a big bowl standing on sands. I felt that it was a precious beautiful present nature gave us! The sunset of the Grand Canyon was classic beautiful scenery we could not miss. We ran west after the setting sun along Hermit Road. At Pima Point, we caught the most magnificent moment before the sun set. In the red setting sun, the rocks reflected rosiness and eyes and faces of the visitors reflected florid. The moment was so short that it was great luck for us to catch every second of these 2 to 3 minutes. It was also an unforgettable moment in my life!
