December 29 — Shanghai Singing Hearts Children's Choir and Changning District Youth Palace jointly hosted a musical theater workshop at Sunshine Theater. Forty primary school students gathered under the winter sunshine to receive hands-on guidance from seasoned American director Robert, immersing themselves in the magic of musical theater creation.

Robert, who has been passionate about stage performance since childhood, has contributed to 22 musical productions. Since 2015, he has directed Singing Hearts’ children’s musical Mulan, marking a decade of collaboration. During the 70-minute workshop, he used dynamic body language and expressive facial gestures to guide the novice participants through foundational training, culminating in a complete song-and-dance performance. Parents captured the performance moments with their smartphones, and the event concluded with a group photo commemorating the occasion.

Combining education and entertainment, the workshop provided children with an unforgettable morning of joyful learning, while also serving as a heartwarming conclusion to 2023 and a meaningful prelude to 2024.
