From July 1 to 10, 2026, SHCC embarked on an exciting creative adventure — a 10-day intensive training camp for their original science-themed musical, The Secret of Shadows.

🎬 Behind the Scenes

Over the course of ten days, a professional team of instructors guided the young performers through a comprehensive training program covering singing, dance, dialogue, and acting. The children didn't just learn lines — they immersed themselves in their characters, bringing the story to life with passion and creativity.

A unique highlight of the camp was the hands-on prop-making sessions, where students crafted their own stage props. This process-based approach deepened their understanding of light, shadow, and natural science, while also enriching their connection to the story.

During the camp, the troupe was honored to receive guidance from American director Bobby Albright, who served as artistic advisor and offered invaluable insights to elevate the production.

🌟 The Final Performance

On the last day of camp, several industry experts visited the rehearsal hall to observe the full run-through. After watching the complete performance, they offered high praise along with professional suggestions for further refinement.

On July 10, the young cast took the stage at the Singapore American School (Shanghai campus), where they completed a 3-hour on-site video recording of the full musical. Under the spotlight, the children transformed into vivid characters, using song and dance to tell the captivating story of light and shadow — a true showcase of their ten-day transformation.

🏅 A Warm Farewell

The camp concluded with a heartwarming closing ceremony. Everyone gathered to watch a highlight reel of daily rehearsal moments, shared their personal takeaways, and celebrated each other's growth. Awards were presented for Best Team, Best Team Leader, Special Award, and Best Performer, honoring every child's dedication and hard work.

The Secret of Shadows was more than a musical — it was a journey of discovery, creativity, and teamwork. We can't wait to see what these young artists create next!
