On July 5, 2026, SHCC joined forces with the Changning District Children's Palace once again to present the annual Changning SHCC Summer Stage.

🎬 Rehearsals

This year's production was the beloved classic musical The Little Mermaid. The camp welcomed American director Bobby Albright as a special guest, with overall coordination led by SHCC's senior instructor Tang Xiaofeng. The cast was made up of SHCC members alongside students from over ten primary and secondary schools across Changning District.

Throughout the rehearsal period, instructors provided systematic training across vocals, dance, dialogue, and acting, guiding every young performer to fully immerse themselves in their roles.

Then came an unexpected challenge — typhoon weather cut the rehearsal schedule short by two full days. Yet the team rose to the occasion with remarkable resilience: by July 9, they had already completed a full run-through of the entire one-hour production, ready for the stage.

🌟 The Performance

After a dress rehearsal on July 14, opening night arrived on July 15 as promised. Under the spotlight, the young cast transformed into vivid characters, using song and performance to bring the story of The Little Mermaid to life. From the sweat of the rehearsal room to the brilliance of the stage, every moment was filled with the children's passion and dedication to musical theatre.
