On days when high-temperature warnings were issued, students from multiple schools in Changning District, along with over ten members of Singing Hearts, performed the classic play "The Wizard of Oz" on the evening of July 12th.

A total of 45 students participated in "The Wizard of Oz," with an average age of 10. For most of these children, it was their first experience with a musical, and it was presented in a language other than their native tongue. Over a span of ten days, with seven hours of daily rehearsals, these children transitioned from being strangers to showcasing harmonious cooperation during the performance. They went from initial nervousness about the English lyrics to confidently singing on stage without the aid of any recordings. Their journey from struggling with both singing and dancing to displaying self-assurance profoundly touched the parents and teachers in the audience.

Singing Hearts invited American youth musical theater education expert, Robert Albright. With his personal charisma and guidance, he unlocked the hidden potential in every child.

In the joyful learning atmosphere, the children progressed rapidly without even realizing it. During these intense ten days, their bodies were tired, but their spirits were enriched. The children stepped out of their comfort zones and challenged themselves, which is highly commendable. Although the performance of "The Wizard of Oz" has successfully concluded, we believe that in the hearts of every child who participated, the seed of love for musical theater has already been sown. We hope this seed will take root and sprout, allowing the children to not only revel in musical theater but also learn the values of teamwork and mutual support.
